PRC Composites LLC manufactures specialized shipping and storage containers. Specialized shipping and storage containers are of the long-life variety and are uniquely configured to support and protect a specific item, or limited variety of items, during handling, storage, and shipment. Containers of this type frequently incorporate energy absorbing systems, pressure and humidity control systems, or special features to make handling or shipment easier, or safer. Engineering drawings, or equivalent, are used to define form, fit, function, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing techniques. Specialized shipping and storage containers, internal fixtures are designed to meet a specific application or need. The containers meet design criteria standard:

Specifications

  • MIL STD 648D (Specialized Shipping Containers)

  • MIL STD 1366E (Interface Standard for Transportability Criteria)

  • MIL STD 209K (Interface Standard for Lifting and Tiedown Provisions)

  • MIL STD 2073-1E (Standard Practice for Military Packaging)

  • MIL STD 129P (Military Marking for Shipment and Storage)

  • MIL STD 810G (Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Tests)

PRC Composites is the only commercial producer of composite sheet molding compound on the west coast of the United States. Our Thermoset Polyester based compounds contain 20% - 50% discontinuous glass fiber, custom colors, fillers and process aids to deliver excellent molding results. Our compounds deliver high strength and impact resistance to the molded composite parts. The discontinuous nature of the fiberglass reinforcement allows these materials to be molded into complex geometries by compression molding.

PRCC engages with customers to develop custom compounds for compression molding applications. Our team has the capability to vary all key ingredients such as resin type, fiberglass content, exclusive colors, filler type and content, and process aids to maximize performance of the compound utilized for compression molding. Compounds can be delivered domestically in gaylords or returnable containers. The materials can be tested for mechanical properties and also sample molded on site prior to commercialization. Our team works with companies to assure a smooth transition of our compounds and optimizing molding parameters to deliver the highest quality compression molded composite components.

PRC Composites and Globe Plastics are at the forefront of composite closed mold manufacturing.  With a strong focus on innovation and cutting-edge technology, PRC and Globe have established themselves as pioneers in the industry.
